ABANDONED LOVE & LILAC WINE &

Every time I see you I feel like a Rolling Stone
or maybe like a Beatle, but probably just alone -
don't let me down, don't let me down.
There was Pinetop Perkins, some Beach Boys too.
Add some Muddy Waters, now I'm feeling blue -
and I'm down, really down.
Lilac Wine really got me through, made me realize
I still love you - now I lost my crown,
I guess I'm down.

Don't you really understand it
what you took from me for granted?
I guess I can not really stand this side of you.
But then again I really like you,
then again I really love you,
then again I hate to lose you -
but
then I did,
I really did.

'Abandoned Love,' I play it all the time
just to remind me I'm really not sublime.
The Spanish moon is rising on the hill.
'While You Were Sleeping,' I felt so alive.
Love is the answer, but you just snore and sigh -
it's time to see what's on TV.
Robin Williams always makes me laugh.
But, I never got over the aftermath
in my mind's wrath - you walked away.

Don't you really understand it
what you took from me for granted?
I guess I can not really stand this side of you.
But then again I really like you
then again I really love you
then again I hate to lose you -
but
then I did,
I really did.

When I'm in that moment and Sinatra's on my side -
'Only the Lonely,' 'Send in the Clowns' -
with the moving tide and demented frowns.
'What A Wonderful World' use to get me through.
Now that I've lived I don't know what to do
when the rooster crows, the hounds begin to howl.
It's time to flip the record over to side two.
But every side is tragic. Will there be something new
when we meet again on the avenue?

Don't you really understand it
what you took from me for granted?
I guess I can not really stand this side of you.
But then again I really like you
then again I really love you
then again I hate to lose you -
but
then I did,
I really did.
