Janeane Garofalo
Can you define irony? Ethan Hawke will always know.
But, you always wear those glasses. Whatever you say goes.
You always have an observation about your friends and your foes.
You need another vial of Prozac just so you can feel your toes.
You never understood redemption or Eddie Vedder’s words.
You always did like Zack Attack – at least that’s what I heard.
You always tell funny stories. You need another man to hate.
You bought yourself a vintage flannel just to look out of date.
But,
You’ve got a lucky face girl,
you’ve got a lucky face.
Never mind the hangover -
You’ve got a lucky face.
Do the math I dare ya’ do it! feel the love and the embrace!
Buy another bag of peanuts ‘cause cashews are a disgrace.
Can you push the wah-wah pedal? do you have some decent drugs? Where’s the next wicked rave, girl – I really need some decent drugs.
‘cause
You’ve got a lucky face girl,
you’ve got a lucky face.
Never mind the hangover -
You’ve got a lucky face
You’ve got a lucky face girl,
you’ve got a lucky face.
Never mind the hangover -
You’ve got a lucky face
You’ve got a lucky face.
You’ve got a lucky face.
You’ve
got a lucky
face.

Couplet Gun

Couplet Gun
I see the sight and sense the fright and I
want to fight to hold you tight and I
find a little Marxist red war paint
And, I don’t want pray it
I don’t want to say it
I just want to step in right next to you.
I stretch across the highway green and I
lean against the traffic gene and I
yell in foreign tongues as I drive by
the monster of a Pilgrim
that bridge that’s known as William
the feeling that I get when I’m right next to you.
And, sitting on a great green sun
the poet shoots a couplet gun
and smiles about his rhyming schemes
about the one who fills his dreams
and, I am here in fantasy
all alone in rhyming schemes
but, that’s okay the wait is good
as I’m falling in love with you
I shoot the stars with asphalt bars
I creep along a familiar song
I find a way to stick my nose in the dirt
and I don’t want name it
I don’t want to brave it
I just want to save it right next to you.
I paint the whims of magistrates
I blame the world for interest rates
I poke a pin inside a bloodless mind
and I can’t feel the potion
I can’t sense that notion
I just want to be the man who’s right next to you.
I don’t know why
heaven is in the sky.
The honky tonks and Christmas bars
the aliens who come from Mars
I wish upon a dream, I dream of you
and I don’t know the logic
I don’t know the prophet
I just want to slip in right next to you.

If I Was Neruda and Matilde, the Sea
I met you in the rain
holding umbrella's pain.
You were rehearsing a scene
somewhere in Shakespeare's dream.
And I just wanted to say,
"I see as the world, as night and day.
As the sun and the moon
Neruda's at see, Matilde swoons.
Crescent hearts and emerald skies,
I don't see the reason for all these lies.
Summer dreams in black and white,
alone."
I led you to my room
with melody's broom
slated by the proof
of affection's truth.
And I just wanted to say,
"I see as the world, as night and day.
As the sun and the moon
Neruda's at see, Matilde swoons.
Crescent hearts and emerald skies,
I don't see the reason for all these lies.
Summer dreams in black and white,
alone."
I tried to explain
what was pulsing through my veins.
You left me with no choice
but to sit back and never rejoice.
And I just wanted to say,
"I see as the world, as night and day.
As the sun and the moon
Neruda's at see, Matilde swoons.
Crescent hearts and emerald skies,
I don't see the reason for all these lies.
Summer dreams in black and white,
alone."

Chi Town New Year's
04:03
|

Chi-town New Year’s
Wine and cheese, fondue please
Outkast and some Thievery
Calls from Greece and hugs at twelve.
Hi Tops bound without a frown
Jumping with a New Year’s clown
Snow is falling on the ground.
The suits are having a good time...
Sober Carson and his Caddy
All the Georges and the D’s
Good food, good drinks, good people, good times
On a Winter’s Morning’s Eve Chicago Night.
Katerina’s and family
Vodka shots and feeling free
New Year’s Eve is now New Year’s Day.
The celebration’s just begun
There’s plenty more where that came from
The lawyer dances a Zembekiko.
The suits are having a good time...
Sober Carson and his Caddy
All the Georges and the D’s
Good food, good drinks, good people, good times
On a Winter’s Morning’s Eve Chicago Night.
Where to now, no one knows
L.A. George is on the phone
I guess it’s Clarke’s to fill our hole.
Darling Nikki and her friend
Cigarettes and omelets
Sun is rising, no one cares.
The suits are having a good time...
Sober Carson and his Caddy
All the Georges and the D’s
Good food, good drinks, good people, good times
On a Winter’s Morning’s Eve Chicago Night.

Why?
03:10
|

Why?
Why did you come here
turning something into nothing?
Would you be surprised
if I am mesmerized
by all the words you say?
I’ll keep them in a book.
Would you like to take a look?
It’s wonderful to see you again.
Why did you come here
turning something into nothing?
There’s a whisper in your eyes
I think it’s deep inside
no one to love anymore.
Yet, ten men before
came knocking at your door.
It’s wonderful to see you again.
Why did you come here
turning something into nothing?

Puppet
Jim Beam and charades, honey,
you tease me all night.
We dance so sentimental, baby,
I want to hold you tight.
Your lips are making dimples, honey,
your eyes are changing hues.
You whisper something sweetly, baby,
what is left to do?
Don’t walk away like a puppet on a string.
Come here next to me,
it’s all right.
We talk about Muddy Waters, honey,
about our favorite tune.
You blow me kisses calmly, baby,
I need to hold your hand.
You call me ‘a gentleman,’ honey,
I bow like Farinelli.
One more dance you ask of me -
Hey! What’s a gentleman to do?
Don’t walk away like a puppet on a string.
Come here next to me,
it’s all right.
Why are you hiding in the shadows, honey?
Why are you crawling around my name?
Just grab you drink and laugh.

He Who Cometh As He Who Sayeth (Nothing’s Happening)
Who is that god
who told me that I am his one and only love
and
why does he wear so much jewelry?
‘cause
nothing’s happening around here.
Where’s all the laughter and all the cheer?
Nothing’s happening around here.
Why did he leave,
that man who they call ‘god’
and
why does he laugh so cynically?
‘cause
nothing’s happening around here.
Where’s all the laughter and all the cheer?
Nothing’s happening around here.
Hey! You bum over there
drinking beers!
just look in my eyes there’s nothing to fear.
I tell you ‘cause I know,
I think that you should adhere,
I think that it’s very clear
that
nothing’s happening around here.
Where’s all the laughter and all the cheer?
Nothing’s happening around here.

Door County Nights

Door County Nights
Winding roads,
they twist right through my mind
My mind begins to hover deep inside
Inside feelings start to cry
I bleed
and then I wonder why I’m gone
driving down this road
Sturgeon Bay is fading in my mirror
Gills Rock lies straight ahead
These Door County nights
are so free
You will see
that the end is just an island.
Moonlight shines between my brittle eyes
My eyes begin to flutter without pride
Without pride
I look behind to see what’s left
In my blue mind
I’m gone
Driving down this road
Sturgeon Bay is fading in my mirror
Gills Rock lies straight ahead
These Door County nights
are so free
You will see
that the end is just an island.
Don’t you understand me,
I’m alone
heading south today?
Stars are shining bright within my heart
My heart begins to spark without much flare
Without much flare
I sit and stare with half-closed eyes
At the rim of life
Driving down this road.

Loneliest Man In New York
Walking down this avenue
looking, searching for a way.
Every time I turn around
there you are with your lovely face.
And, I don't want your sympathy,
I just want your love.
I'm the loneliest man in New York.
Every day I wake up new.
Every day I think of you.
Every star that shines so bright
makes me think of you tonight.
And, I don't want your sympathy,
I just want your love.
I'm the loneliest man in New York.
Crying rain begins to fill my eyes.
I don't know what's left but cloudy skies.
I don't want your sympathy,
I just want your love.
I'm the loneliest man in New York.

Wind
Hey there wind, don’t bother to come in.
I’m alone with my thoughts tonight.
I don’t bother you, so don’t you blow on me.
There is god, these streets
nothing more.
Hey there moon, there’s others you can swoon.
I am deep with my heart tonight.
I don’t look at you, so don’t you stare at me.
There is love, these dreams
nothing more.
And,
where have you gone, sweet Angel?
Why do you leave me alone,
so alone?
Why do these streets seem like
prison bars for my soul...
There’s no escape
when you become the debris of the wind.
Hey there Lord, can you take away this sword?
I feel life through the bottom of my breast.
I don’t bother you, don’t stick your knife in me.
I have wounds, my thoughts
nothing more.
