Why? 03:10
Why? Why did you come here turning something into nothing? Would you be surprised if I am mesmerized by all the words you say? I’ll keep them in a book. Would you like to take a look? It’s wonderful to see you again. Why did you come here turning something into nothing? There’s a whisper in your eyes I think it’s deep inside no one to love anymore. Yet, ten men before came knocking at your door. It’s wonderful to see you again. Why did you come here turning something into nothing?

Brand New Creed I don’t need a fix to flip the switch on politics I don’t need a bush to cover me a foreign push I don’t need a ‘god,’ who outlaws me and praises frauds I don’t need a Bill to give me rights to kill at will I don’t really need the FCC to judge me I don’t really need... What I really need is a brand new creed with a brand new Bible ‘neath a Christmas Tree. I don’t need the sky to tell me when it’s gonna’ rain I don’t need the pain to figure out this world’s insane I don’t need a clue inside the mind of patriots I don’t need the news to hum to me these Muslim blues I don’t need to start everyday with my hand over heart I don’t need a flag to prove to the world, who I am I don’t really need Cowboy Christ to shoot me right I don’t really need... What I really need is a brand new creed with a brand new Bible ‘neath a Christmas Tree. Everywhere I go, people come and go Waiting for Reality to start a brand new show Vote for dope, boats, coats, floats, goats, hoax, moats, notes, oats, quotes, ropes, soaps, throats, smote and promote new life What I really need is a brand new creed with a brand new Bible ‘neath a Christmas Tree.

Green Love 05:55
Green Love Unfortunately, this time I am aware. The zest for lust and human trust seem all unfair. The creed you gave me was filled with lies. Greed was the thing, which signified the day you died. And, you always felt you were the martyr, while I always knew that the Lord played favorites. And, I always knew that in between blue that I would turn green with love. Today, I adhere to your dignified obsessions, tomorrow, kneel before a cross of depression, toying with the idea that love will last forever. Someday, we’ll pray together as if forever never felt any better. And, you always felt you were the martyr, while I always knew that the Lord played favorites. And, I always knew that in between blue that I would turn green with love. And, somehow, I never knew that manipulation is the basis for love.

Philia 03:18
Philia Curving up to heaven on a Christmas swing I was dreaming about a dream. It’s April 4th the horns are blowing across a blue sky. There’s an eye patch on my cheek. The winds are blowing. There’s no knowing rhythm in our lies. Your hand trembles oh! so sweet! But, you were gonna’ leave me before a new sun holding finger puppets in my ears. Climbing on a coat you wrote a fairy tale about dying for the very first time A blonde, blonde sun on graduation’s stairs and the Parthenon in our eyes Harry Conick in disguise and creeky floors wouldn’t want to compromise this brand new feeling before a new sun holding finger puppets in my ear. Don’t you want to tell me don’t you want to empathize. Don’t you want to tell me there’s something in your eyes. Climbing down from heaven in a beat up car I’ve been staring at reality. It’s April 4th the sun has turned to moonlight night and ethereal obscurity. The winds are blowing there’s no knowing what you will mean as the backdrop to all my dreams. You left me here standing before a new sun holding finger puppets in my ears.

Florida 05:22
Florida I was voting for this Democrat as I sat back staring at a voting booth trying not to laugh at the brat, who saw my hat and thought that I was cool. Apathy and her grin begins the sin that haunts my politics. I don’t want to be the freeze-frame pod, who mows the lawn when it’s said and done. I was watching CNN, CSPAN, too, Geraldo and the local news trying not to laugh at the fact that I was busy watching all these worthless dudes Polls! Polls! And more Polls! Where’s my soul on this TV screen? I don’t want to be a number child stuck in the mobile with the ballot blues again. And, why don’t you just walk away. I was talking to my friend about election time, all these rhyming crimes of speech, trying not to laugh at the words and the rhetoric of all these buzzing bees. Suicide, some issues die, some people cry, but only when it counts. I don’t want to be the only one without a gun trying to avoid my rights. And, why don’t you just walk away. I don’t want to be an electorate of my life Waiting by these twenty-five to decide. I was hitching for the South, itching for a trip down to Voting, Florida, Trying not to sneeze with allergies at palm tree dreams and young retirees. Apathy and her lost begins to toss these dimpled sheets of fame. I don’t want to be a part of past, a history, without a single word to say. And, why don’t you just walk away. Everybody grab a Mai Tai, everyone sing and dance everybody grab a girl, now, it’s time for romance. Everyone get a sun tan and jump in the pool, everyone’s on vacation, everyone’s drunk and cool. Freedom is responsibility, freedom is Florida.

Nowhere Numb 02:41
Nowhere Numb Let me in, I’m falling through your mind Speak to me, I’m sensing no reply Try on me, I’m slipping from this life This life Where’s that grin, which keeps me in your line of trust? Feel and sense the rhythm in my eyes Seek in me the corporate compromise Brush away my jealous hollow ways Free from me my masks of black and white white Pull from me the meaning of the day. Sing me the those songs from “Camelot.” Send me a kiss of butterflies. Trust me now that I am getting old, getting old and nowhere numb.

Flower 03:58
Flower Who is this in pain on a Wednesday, maybe Thursday, morning? Who knows when? Who knows when, as you pick a flower without a name. It’s all the same. Drunken stupor in my hand. Who’s to blame? Who’s to blame, sitting on a rock, two weeks past, innocence was the game. It was the game. Now things they have changed, since you picked a flower without a name. A flower without a name. Tear drops in my hand, that’s all I can hold. Let’s take that walk again, so I may hold more than tears in my hand, and a flower without a name.

Who Begins Today Did you think the mood was right to be just friends? Pet names aside, just letting go to begin a new end, helping you to get you through reality’s sigh? Everywhere we go from here just turns back time. Dinner and drinks and the kitchen sink... Did you think your feelings would leave for another man? Rubies aside, just remembering the wind in Malibu? Now that the talk is cheaper than some wine between old friends, hold that pose. It makes you look... Shopping for thrills, seeking those bills feeling so cute wearing your guilt suit crimping your hair for the mirror’s stare a moment’s will at the bottom of the hill where every time that I drive by I see your crying eyes, where love was love and lust was lust and we stood in disguise, where you needed me to shred your tree and build you a new life, where you left me alone to contemplate alone, while your life moved on... without me... a good old friend.

Shadows* 05:01
Shadows First time I laid my eyes on you, you were so beautiful wearing the colors of a sunny day. First time I ever spoke to you, you were so meaningful just like the thunder of a rainy day. First time I ever thought of you, you were so wonderful just like the wonder of a starry night. And I believed in you I, yes! I believed in you just like my eyes believe in light. But, now I find I’ve got to get you out of my mind I’ve got to let you stay behind, where you belong, In the shadows of a memory. First time I made love with you, I was so innocent I wanted to change everything in sight. And I did everything. I gave my everything, for the chance to hold you tight. And I believed in you, yes! I believed in you just like my eyes believe in light. But, now I find I’ve got to get you out of my mind I’ve got to let you stay behind, where you belong In the shadows of a memory.

Wind 04:30
Wind Hey there wind, don’t bother to come in. I’m alone with my thoughts tonight. I don’t bother you, so don’t you blow on me. There is god, these streets nothing more. Hey there moon, there’s others you can swoon. I am deep with my heart tonight. I don’t look at you, so don’t you stare at me. There is love, these dreams nothing more. And, where have you gone, sweet Angel? Why do you leave me alone, so alone? Why do these streets seem like prison bars for my soul... There’s no escape when you become the debris of the wind. Hey there Lord, can you take away this sword? I feel life through the bottom of my breast. I don’t bother you, don’t stick your knife in me. I have wounds, my thoughts nothing more.

about

Romeo and Juliet’s love cannot survive. This time, however, the family is not a problem. In our modern tale of love, social-politics has forced the hand of tragedy. And, thus, begins Joe...

“Joe’s Beginning,” the second full-length release by Gypsy George & the Open Road Love Affair, is the sonic reflection of this modern tale. The album is a narrative of love gained (“Philia,” “Flower”), love lamented (“Green Love,” “Who Begins Today”) and the society love breathes (“Brand New Creed,” “Arab Blues”). Produced and Performed by Gypsy George Mihalopoulos, the album showcases his trademark production style, which has been described as the merging of George Martin, Phil Spector and Daniel Lanois.
